The number of corona infections worldwide is increasing rapidly. Till date, 156,760 cases have been reported in 151 countries. 5,839 people have died. The situation is also deteriorating in countries associated with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). A total of 178 infections have been confirmed in the 8 countries involved. India had the highest number of 109 cases. Test positive of 34 people came in Pakistan. On the situation arising out of coronavirus, Narendra Modi is doing video conferencing with the leaders of SAARC countries. It was initiated by PM Modi itself. 

Which was welcomed by the leaders of SAARC countries? 

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will not attend. Dr Zafar Mirza will take part in the conference in his place. He is the Special Advisor to the PM. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Maldives President Ibrahim Mohammad Solih will also be part of it. The eight SAARC countries include Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bhutan along with India.

India, Pakistan and Nepal have sealed their borders due to Corona. In Pakistan, 7 thousand people are under the supervision of the government. They have returned from the travelling road in recent times. There are about 50,000 people under surveillance in India. Nepal has stopped climbing Mount Everest. Bangladesh has banned foreign visits. Maldives, Bhutan and Afghanistan have also banned the visa application process for the time being. About 8 thousand people have been quarantined here.
