Good Newwz (2019) movie Review
Good Newwz movie Review: Deepti (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) are a posh, high-flying married couple who live in Mumbai and are very involved with their careers. Deepti still has a heart after having a child and trying for a few years and then, by some family members, both Varun and he decide to consult one of the city's best fertility specialists. The doctors recommend IVF and they are ready for it. Only after a few days through the hitch, the process, Deepti and Varun are told that a sperm mixture has the same last name with the same couple. Enter 'Chandigarh Se Batra' in his life. Honey (Diljit Dosanjh) and Monica (Kiara Advani) are a vigorous Punjabi couple and now it is a complete confrontation of sensations between Batra's two sets. As both Deepti and Monica soon discover that they are pregnant, the rest of the film explores how the couple arrives and deals with this unusual situation.
Through most of his runtime, director Raj Mehta ensures that 'Good Nouveau' stays true to his style with many lighthearted and funny moments. Add to that, the film's pace remains mostly tight. Although given to the subject and the basis of the narrative, over time, the problematic field and attitude change. And some jokes seem off-color. There is a tendency to explain and simplify in some parts, which stick out. Furthermore, the script barely scratches the surface when it comes to the depth and complexity of the situation.
However, the performances are top notch. Kareena Kapoor Khan steals the show and performs knockout as the sophisticated Deepti, and the emotional arc of her character is well developed. Akshay Kumar hits the right spot with his comedy timing. Like Diljit Dosanjh, who dips his teeth in his character and plays it with full enthusiasm. Kiara Advani is honest and leaves an impression. At the core of all illusions is Adil Hussain as a hoot as a straightforward doctor. And as a couple, both Kareena and Akshay play each other well and their many interactions are very convincing.
